I wonder if anyone with medical experience has assessed her from that perspective and made a hypothetical prescription up for her. I'm sure someone has. The woman is clearly depressed and is constantly trying to escape her present reality through the love affairs and the shopping sprees. And her inability to relate to Charles or her child might have some kind of bipolar element going on. Perhaps she just needed anti-depressants.
