Book Club: Steinbeck, The Pastures of Heaven

These are the discussion questions the book club talked about regarding John Steinbeck's novel, The Pastures of Heaven. This was Steinbeck's second novel and it was fun to discuss together. Here are some of the main topics we covered during our discussion as well as some of the key ideas we left thinking about.

Madame Bovary

What kind of medicine did Madame Bovary need? I am sure she needed something. I wonder if anyone with medical experience has assessed her from that perspective and made a hypothetical prescription up for her. I'm sure someone has.

The Stranger: Written By Camus, Read by Camus

This is sick. You can listen to Camus narrate his book The Stranger in French. The video is worthless and there is weird music at the beginning. However this is truly an incredible experience if you have read the book or are reading it.

Kronborg Castle and Louisiana Museum, Denmark

I looked on the Copenhagen tourism website, and found there were two pwning things we needed to see- the first was a castle called Kronborg and the second was an art museum, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. The castle also goes by the name of Elsinore… sound familiar?! That's cuz you've read Hamlet!!! Yes, this is the castle where Shakespeare's Prince Hamlet was going out of his mind because his mother was sleeping with his uncle. Apparently the Louisiana museum is very well known in the contemporary art world. And I love modern art!
